PATIENT
APPROACH
A 60-MINUTE FIRST VISIT
You’ll have my undivided attention. During this time, I will be getting to know you and your story. We’ll find clarity on where you’ve been and where we’re taking you. I want you to leave feeling heard and knowing exactly what your next steps are.
In this first visit, we’ll discuss your sleep, diet, digestion, stress, energy levels, and more. Everything’s connected when it comes to the body, and it's important to me to get a clear picture of your health history and how that relates to your current complaint(s).
I’ll implement nutritional and lifestyle strategies as well as order specific labs and/or imaging that will help with your treatment plan. This will often include ordering standard bloodwork and may also include specialty tests such as hormone analysis, food intolerance evaluation, stool analysis, or genetic SNP screening.
SUBSEQUENT VISITS
We’ll visit again in 2-4 weeks to review the lab results and revisit the treatment plan. The goal of the second visit is to further clarify your goals based on lab results and have you leave with a clear idea of what to expect until the next time I see you. We’ll check in after the second visit as needed, depending on your individual needs.
IN BETWEEN VISITS
You’ll have access to the patient portal to send messages, request refills, etc. I check messages everyday and will respond within 48 hours. I welcome open communication and love to hear updates on how you’re doing! It’s important to me that you feel comfortable reaching out; no question or concern is too small.
SUPPLEMENTS
As an ND, I use natural supplements such as botanical medicine and nutrients as part of my treatment plan. You can expect to have some recommendation at the end of our first visit.
I use an online supplement store called Fullscript to manage treatment recommendations. Patients receive 20% discount from retail price. It’s convenient and you can access my specific instructions anytime by logging in.
LAB WORK & SPECIALTY TESTS
For the more common tests, I use in-network labs that insurance plans will typically cover (coverage not guaranteed). However, I may recommend you complete specialty testing that will help reveal patterns and root cause of your symptoms. Below are examples of the most common tests I recommend:
HORMONES
If I think I need more information than what a blood test can give me, I will typically recommend the DUTCH Complete Hormone Panel. This is a take home kit, where you collect urine on paper during a certain time of your cycle.
INVESTIGATING THE GUT
There are two main tests to see what might be lurking in the gut.
- Lactulose Breath Test (LBT) will test for Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO).
- Large Intestine Stool Analysis
I also like to do a food intolerance evaluation to discover food groups that aren’t being digested well and likely contributing to why you’re not feeling your best.
GENETIC TESTING
It is important to know if you have MTHFR variations along with a host of other SNPs that can contribute to your unique health picture. With this information, we can customize a supplement and diet plan that works with your genes, not against.
I like to use MaxFunction SNP Analysis, find out why here.
There are many more tests that I use depending on your unique needs.
